Managing a tower, corporate floor, or residential block in E14 means answering for who stands at the front desk, who holds the keys, and who responds at 3 am. We are an independent security company in Canary Wharf, hired directly by occupiers, managing agents, and residents’ management companies to place trained security officers on site across the Wharf and the wider Isle of Dogs.
1st Class Protection Ltd provides independent, SIA-licensed security across Canary Wharf and E14. We are hired directly by offices, multi-tenant towers, and residential developments for manned guarding, concierge and front-of-house cover, reception security, residential patrols, and CCTV monitoring, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We are not connected to the estate’s own security operation. Canary Wharf Group runs its own team across the public realm, and if that is the desk you need, contact the estate directly. We are a separate contractor appointed by you for your building, floors, and residents.
The Wharf is a vertical environment, and that changes how cover is designed. Footfall arrives through lift lobbies rather than a single door, deliveries funnel through shared loading bays, and tenant floors sit above a ground floor controlled by someone else’s turnstiles. We build assignment instructions around that reality, across E14, Poplar, the Isle of Dogs, and Greater London within the M25.
In a multi-tenant tower, guarding splits across levels. Our officers handle ground-floor screening and visitor validation, patrol tenant floors on set and randomised routes, control lift lobby access at restricted hours, monitor loading bay movements, and complete out-of-hours lock-up with documented checks. Corporate security posts in financial and professional services buildings face additional requirements regarding confidentiality, contractor escorting, and after-hours cleaning supervision.
We work with your base-build systems rather than around them, managing pass issues, temporary access cards, and turnstile exceptions in line with your access control policy. Manned guarding shifts are built with named relief cover, so no post is left empty, and every site has a dedicated account manager as the single point of escalation. Incident logs, occurrence books, and handover records are kept to a standard that managing agents can present at building meetings, and we escalate to the Metropolitan Police where an incident requires it.
Front-of-house at the Wharf does two jobs at once: representing a blue-chip brand to every visitor and controlling who gets past the barrier line. Concierge services cover corporate presentation, greeting protocol, visitor pre-registration, contractor sign-in and permit checks, alongside post and deliveries handling, meeting-room support, and lift dispatch during peak arrival windows.
Where a site needs an administrative presence with security awareness, Reception security personnel are the better fit. Where the risk profile calls for a search or a physical response, we recommend a dedicated guarding post beside the desk rather than asking one officer to handle both.
Residential high-rises in E14 carry a different pattern of risk to offices. We staff concierge desks in residential and mixed-use developments, provide overnight cover when the daytime team stands down, and patrol car parks, cycle stores, and bin areas where theft and antisocial behaviour concentrate.
Residential security officers manage resident and guest access, log contractor attendance, and identify short-let misuse where lease terms prohibit it. During work, fire alarm activations and evacuations, officers support building management with marshalling and roll-call under the site’s emergency plan. Incident summaries and patrol records go to the RMC or managing agent.
Procurement teams and insurers ask the same questions:
Site type usually points to the right service mix before a survey confirms it.
| Site type | Typical service mix | Common cover pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-tenant office tower | Manned guarding, ground-floor screening, concierge / front-of-house | Day desk plus patrols, out-of-hours lock-up |
| Single corporate floor or HQ | Corporate security, reception security, contractor escorting | Staffed reception in business hours, relief cover |
| Residential / mixed-use development | Concierge desk, residential patrols, overnight cover | 24/7 desk or split day / night rota |
| Short-notice or gap cover | Manned guarding, key holding, mobile patrols | Immediate deployment pending a full survey |
The process runs in three steps: we walk the building with you, issue a written proposal outlining post numbers, shift patterns, and assignment instructions, and then confirm a deployment date. Short-notice cover is available when an incumbent contract ends abruptly or an incident requires an immediate presence.
Have your site hours, post requirements, access control systems, and current contract end date ready, and the proposal moves faster. Contact us for a quote or call our London team directly. Our office is in NW4 3XA, and all officers are SIA-licensed and BS 7858:2019 screened before their first shift.
No. We have no affiliation with Canary Wharf Group or the estate’s security operation. Occupiers, managing agents, and residents’ management companies appoint us directly for their own buildings, and our officers work in accordance with your assignment instructions.
For straightforward posts, we usually deploy within days of a signed proposal, subject to licence and screening checks for the allocated officers. Gap cover after a contract lapse can often be arranged sooner, and we confirm a realistic date at the survey.
Hours covered, the number of posts, overnight or weekend cover, the licence type required, and specialist duties such as CCTV monitoring or key holding. A multi-post tower prices differently from a single reception desk, and every quote is written against the site survey.
We cover the whole of E14, including Poplar, Blackwall, and the Isle of Dogs, plus Tower Hamlets and Greater London within the M25. We do not operate outside London, which keeps response times and account management consistent.
Tell us your E14 address and current cover, and we’ll walk the building, then send a written proposal with officer numbers, rota, and costs, with our SIA licensing, BS 7858:2019 screening, and accreditation evidence attached. Choosing a security company in Canary Wharf should come down to that level of detail. Call our 24-hour line or send the enquiry form, and we’ll respond on the same working day.
