We are a security company in South Bank, London, supplying SIA-licensed officers across SE1, Bankside, and the riverside, with cover throughout Greater London inside the M25. Our three lead services here are event security and crowd management, retail and hospitality security, and close protection.
Event security is our busiest discipline in this part of London, where ticketed audiences at the Southbank Centre, National Theatre, and BFI Southbank sit alongside the open pedestrian flow of Queen’s Walk, and where Tate Modern, the London Eye, and Borough Market draw year-round footfall. We work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and take short-notice and one-off bookings.
Call 0800 093 0001 or request a quote. We are SIA ACS approved, with BS 7858:2019 vetted officers.
South Bank events and venues typically need SIA-licensed door supervisors for crowd management and access control, retail security for high-footfall units and markets, and close protection for talent, executives and private visitors, with event and venue duty-holders increasingly expected to plan for Martyn’s Law as part of that cover.
| Service | Typical South Bank setting | Officer type and licence | Cover pattern |
|---|---|---|---|
| Event security and crowd management | Riverside festival, auditorium, or premiere | SIA-licensed door supervisors, with a supervisor and controller on larger builds | One-off, multi-day, or seasonal |
| Retail and hospitality security | Bankside store, Borough Market stall, or riverside bar | SIA licensed security officer, store detective, or door supervisor | Peak hours, market days, or permanent |
| Close protection | Premiere, gallery, hotel, or theatre visit | SIA licensed close protection operative | Single engagement, daily, or residency |
Every assignment starts with a site visit or a detailed brief, followed by written assignment instructions covering officer numbers, posts, escalation routes, and reporting lines.
On this stretch of the river, door supervisors handle ingress and search while a radio-linked supervisor coordinates crowd flow at queue and pinch points, with documented evacuation and invacuation procedures prepared for every event footprint. Venues in Martyn’s Law’s scope also need recorded planning for their specific capacity tier.
Queen’s Walk is a public thoroughfare, so ticketed events sit inside a continuous tourist flow and boundaries are permeable rather than fixed. We plan for that with ingress lines set away from the main walkway, stewarded pinch points near the London Eye and Jubilee Gardens, bag checks agreed with the venue, and pit or stage-front cover where the production needs it.
For premieres at BFI Southbank and the National Theatre, we manage red carpet lines, media positions, and talent movement. The South Bank straddles two boroughs, so we liaise with venue duty managers, the relevant Lambeth or Southwark licensing team, and the Metropolitan Police where an event plan requires it.
Retail security in a tourist district behaves differently from estate or office guarding. Offenders are often transient and non-returning, language barriers are common, and market layouts have no single controlled entrance. We supply plain-clothes store detectives, uniformed retail officers, and front-of-house door supervision for Bankside units, Borough Market traders, and riverside food and drink venues.
Officers work to the store’s or trader’s own loss prevention policy, record incidents properly, and handle evidence so it stands up in a police referral or in civil recovery. We scale cover for market days, half-term, late-night event crowds, and the December peak. Where we monitor CCTV, we follow UK GDPR and ICO guidance on signage, retention, and access requests, and our door supervisors are trained in conflict management and the licensing conditions of the premises they work in.
Close protection on the South Bank is mostly short-engagement work: talent at a premiere, an executive at a conference, or a private client visiting Tate Modern or a riverside restaurant. Our SIA-licensed close protection operatives handle reconnaissance, route planning, and arrival and departure management, which matters here because vehicle drop-off is limited and the last 50 metres are usually on foot through public space.
Cover is low profile by default. We coordinate with hotel security teams, venue duty managers, and secure transport providers, and brief on contingency routes before the principal moves. We also provide Personal protection for private clients who want residential or day-to-day cover rather than event-only support. Itineraries, client details, and imagery stay confidential.

Martyn’s Law, formally the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, received Royal Assent in April 2025 and is not yet in force. The Home Office has confirmed a minimum 24-month implementation period, with commencement expected in spring 2027. South Bank venues and event organisers are not yet required to comply, but preparing ahead of the deadline is the sensible approach.
The Act applies in tiers: smaller qualifying premises sit in the standard tier with lighter procedural requirements, while larger premises and events fall into the enhanced tier with additional documented measures. Many South Bank operators span both, since one organisation may run an indoor auditorium, an outdoor terrace, and a market footprint at different capacities.
Trained door supervisors, agreed search procedures, evacuation and invacuation drills, and written assignment instructions all feed into readiness for either tier. We support duty-holders with staffing and procedure; we do not certify compliance. Full guidance is published by ProtectUK.

We hold SIA ACS status and deploy SIA-licensed door supervisors, security officers, and close protection operatives. For cover north of the river, see our West End security page.

Call or contact us for a quote, and we will confirm the number of officers, licences, and availability for your date. Have your date, venue, expected headcount, hours, and service type ready. SIA ACS approved, BS 7858:2019 vetted officers, 24/7 operation, and short-notice cover.
Cost depends on the number of officers, shift length, time of day, and whether supervision or search facilities are needed. Door supervisors are charged per officer per hour, with minimum call-out hours and premium rates for overnight, weekend, and bank holiday work. Send your date, venue, and expected attendance for an itemised quote.
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 will apply to qualifying premises and events that exceed the set capacity thresholds, split into standard and enhanced tiers. Many South Bank auditoriums, terraces, and outdoor event footprints are likely to qualify. Check the thresholds on ProtectUK, then plan procedures and staffing for your tier.
Yes. We hold a London-wide officer pool and take one-off and short-notice bookings, including evenings and weekends. Availability depends on the date, headcount, and licence type needed, so call as early as you can. We confirm officer allocation and assignment instructions in writing before deployment.
BS 7858:2019 is the British Standard for screening individuals who work in secure environments. It covers identity verification, right to work, and employment history, including any gaps. It matters because it confirms an officer’s background has been checked beyond the SIA licence alone.
We cover the South Bank riverside, Bankside, Waterloo, Southwark, London Bridge, and Borough, across both Lambeth and Southwark. We also work throughout Greater London inside the M25, so multi-site clients keep the same supplier, supervision structure, and reporting format at every location.
